Woodard Weave® Classic American Woven Rugs

Our rugs are hand-woven with organic all cotton yarn, and are hand-dyed with environmentally friendly dye materials. Our collection embodies the authenticity of 19th-Century historic rugs with the imperfections of hand-loomed and hand-dyed floor coverings.

Our historic rug designs originated with 19th-Century Shaker, Amish, and Pennsylvania weavers. Working on hand looms, they created a splendid variety of soundly constructed flat woven carpets. As the supply of old rugs dwindled, we began tracing the origins of historic floor coverings, reconstructing traditional weaving patterns, and rediscovering old color systems and flat weave techniques.

Woodard & Greenstein

Since 1981

Inspired by antique American rugs that have become difficult to find, Woodard & Greenstein, created WOODARD WEAVE® Classic American Woven Rugs in 1981.  In a chance meeting with a new manufacturer from India, a partnership began that has continued for over thirty years.  Their collection of hand-made, traditional style rugs are very much at home with both antique and contemporary decors.

A new chapter

In May 2025 Woodard Weave was acquired by longtime client David Netto, interior designer and passionate fan of the brand. David had become aware of Tom Woodard’s desire to retire and his intention to close down the company and decided it was worth an email to see if an alternative future could be devised. He wrote to Tom that “part of this is self-preservation, because I cannot do without these rugs in my projects–but also in the larger culture of design I am generally against great resources and vendors being allowed to go away. These rugs should not be allowed to leave the world.” A few months later Tom got to retire, David got the company he couldn’t do without, and plans to continue were implemented immediately to grow the business and maintain availability of ALL designs, while changing as little as possible about the quality, strong point of view, and clear-as-a-bell aesthetic message of what David has described as a “BIG little American brand.”

David Netto Inc. is a celebrated interiors and furniture design studio known for its eclectic sensibility, narrative-rich spaces, and intellectual rigor. With a background in architectural history and a deep respect for the decorative arts, Netto blends classical references with unexpected juxtapositions—pairing restraint with exuberance, and tradition with wit. The studio is proud to be recognized among the industry’s best, with inclusion in both the AD100 and Elle Decor’s prestigious A-List. davidnetto.com
